To Infinity And Beyond (pt. 1?)

Originally a prompt sent to me by one of my friends on Tumblr (which you can find here), it features some of the characters in our D&D game. I’m the DM and, well, I figured I might as well start transferring over some of the short stories/writing fills that I’ve done over to my non-Tumblr blog ahahaha.

This is very much an alternate universe (AU) of the actual campaign, but all the characters are the same and I’ve basically taken the situation and just… changed it a bit.

Anyways, read, enjoy, and stay tuned for more 🙂

Pst, there’s going to be more updates soon re: irl things.

Run For Cover

I wrote this little thing for a D&D campaign ages ago that’s long since ended. Since there’s no more point keeping the backstory secret, I figured I’d share this short story here.

The world is a fantasy realm where demons and celestial beings are common place as well as your standard dwarfs, elves, etc. Artemis, my character, is a sad, sad, sad half-demon who really just has a messed up life and needs a hug.

At some point I’ll make a post outlining what I’ve been up to, but this is long enough as it is. The important news is that you can grab my short story, First, Second, Third in Harmony Ink’s anthology here! It’s on ebook and paperback and you get a ton of other great queer short stories.

Cheers!

Letter To My Former Self

Dear Deadname,

I’m sorry. I’m sorry because life is hard right now and you’re twelve and I want to tell you that it gets better. That everything is solved and you’re happy and popular and love yourself. But I am doing my damnedest not to lie, not to anyone and not to you. So I won’t tell you that everything, in seven long years, is ok. Because it isn’t. It hasn’t been for a while. And that’s ok. You are going to be ok. You are going to survive, I promise. You are going to get into the college of your dreams and you are going to find yourself and find friends who love you because of who you are, not because of who you pretend to be.

But it takes time. You’re going to hate your parents. They’re going to hurt you and stab you in the back repeatedly even as they say they love you. Understand,  and this is not absolving them of their harm, but you must understand that they do. And when things seem the darkest it might not be what you want so I won’t tell you  to rely on them but know that they are there for you. Even when you make bad decisions, they’ll be there to catch you. I guess that’s what parents are for.
